Familiar Flip is an idle card game where your deck of cute familiars goes head to head with enemy monsters to earn gold. Use your gold to buy card packs - but what you find within depends on how lucky you are. Increase your luck to discover stronger cards, merge matching cards, and do your best to defeat the boss monster!

Controls

Keyboard controls only. You might need to click the game window to focus it.

  • Move cursor: WASD or arrow keys
  • Confirm option, open packs: Space, Enter, or Z
  • Cancel/back: Backspace, X

How to play

  • The battle happens automatically. Use the arrow keys to choose an option and improve your deck.
  • After buying a Card Pack, press the action button 3 times to open the pack.
  • High luck improves the quality of the cards you open in packs.
  • Three of the same card merge into one stronger card, up to 3 stars.
  • Once you reach 1000 luck, you can pay luck to sacrifice cards from your deck and take out some cards from the enemy deck.
    • Known bug: The sacrifice button costs luck, but it's possible to back out of the screen before you do the sacrifice and lose the luck unnecessarily. Press the action button to continue instead.
    • Tip: Since sacrificing reduces luck, make sure you take advantage of your high luck to get some strong familiars first!
  • Beat the boss monster 3 times to win!

The UX and design is solid! Nice work!

Fun and cute game!

It's very satisfying seeing lots of cards get removed by sacrifice.

Some interesting concepts here. The "Sacrifice" mechanic is pretty interesting and fun to use in its own right. However, the method to win the main game is incredibly straightforward (I really don't get what the other commenter means about being able to employ strategy): Max out luck, and then keep buying cards over and over. Once you're pulling the dragon, unicorn, and griffin each time, you will be staring at the card opening screens far more than the actual card battles. It's also very annoying having the enter an action 3 times to open the card packs and turns an incremental autobattler into a button masher.

Leaves something to be desired in terms of gameplay.

Very cool take on an autobattler idle game. I liked how despite having effectively 2 decisions to make at any given time I still felt like I was making strategic moves.

This was really cute and fun, I loved the number go up aspect. Also unlocking new familliars when I was sure I had unlocked them all was a pleasant surprise.

Cute auto-battler game! heh. Advise having the cursor being defaulted on something, since I didn't realize I needed to use the arrows before I can Enter.

Apparently I won somehow? I never noticed the boss had a life meter? Gonna play again and look carefully! Oh, I see. They have Hearts, not Stars!
