✨The Daily Spell ✨

Unscramble the headline by dropping letters into place and read today's top story from the premiere magical newspaper, The Daily Spell.

📝 How to play

The Daily Spell is a drop quote puzzle - letters are organized by column.

  • Each letter needs to go somewhere in the same column in order to form words that are read across.
  • Black squares are the spaces between words, and words can wrap from one line to the next.
  • You can freely use the Drop single letters button to automatically drop all letters that are the only ones left in their column.
  • If you need a hint, click the Reveal a letter button, then a spot or letter in order to reveal what goes there.

For mobile players, landscape orientation is recommended! And note that the game might not work well with dark mode browser extensions.

WOOOH!!!! GO CAT!! YOU MAY NOT HAVE WON THE BATTLE BUT YOU CLEARLY WON THIS WAR! WE BELIEVE IN YOU!

I found this game because it was in Celia's discord bio (seen on Funeral for the Sun's discord server). It's so much fun! I don't think I would have gotten invested in this story if it wasn't in "wordle-like" form, it's genius. There's something comedic I really like about this game, how a word can fall into place and suddenly reveal the petty drama that's about to unfold.

Oooo the story gets even more interesting!

I quite enjoyed this. One little tweak: I wish “Drop single letters” would drop multiple letters down if they are all the same. There’s no choice so it might as well.

I had this situation come up a few times as I played through.

Great idea - I’ve added a check for multiple of the same letter. Thanks!

kick her ass in the pokemon battle Cat!!! I believe in you!!

I am invested in the world you are revealing here. Who’s in the right, who’s in the wrong (is anyone either)? I’ve swung back and forth between rooting for both sides.

I feel like I should stand with Argent, because he was just stating truths, although stretched and exaggerated in order to humiliate her, that she was a fraud, but after today’s news, Smythe just wanted others’ work to be recognized and, as a result, proved most of her works didn’t come from just herself, exposing herself as a fraud. Argent showed others Smythe’s secret, and Smythe doubled down in order to stand against the normalcy of their world in a guiding kind of way. I don’t know who to root for now,,

Okay, this is getting REALLY good. I love the new drama. I'm kinda rooting for Thalia.

I think I’m starting to side with Scribe Argent here..

I dunno. Maybe someone paid him off? there's more here than we're seeing, i'm sure of it.

I have not solved this kind of puzzle before, so it took me quite a while to figure out how it worked (kept trying to drop letters wherever and did not realise they just dropped down), but when I figured it out I solved it without too much trouble.

I recommend adding in the description that words can wrap around, as that can be a bit confusing when you're solving for the first time.

Looking forward to next day's puzzle :)
